Today I tried to enter my daily Covid-19 data from the Alberta.ca dashboard. I became suspicious when it was not updating throughout the day. What was going on?
As you know several articles have been published recently that revealed deeply troubling and systematic patterns of data manipulation by the Alberta.ca Covid-19 dashboard. Evidence has been presented, using their own numbers, that Alberta has been counting people who had shots as unvaccinated cases, obscuring data, conflating data, and using statistical slight of hand to paint a picture of vaccine efficacy and that the unvaccinated are a danger to us all. I recently published an article showing the current case, hospitalization, and death rates since were roughly equal to the overall vaccination rate, and that the cumulative numbers of these cases in vaccinated people far outstripped those of the unvaccinated.
One of the reasons I wanted to sit back and collect a few months of data, before publishing my last article was because I suspected that once their tricks were exposed, they would change what they were doing. Well, that is exactly what they did, but I never thought they would just change the numbers.
When they finally did update their dashboard late today, I was absolutely floored!! They just changed the numbers!! All of them. And these are not just little changes. These are massive changes them all without any explanation at all on the website. I was totally floored. Alberta must be made to explain this to the public. This is so beyond outrageous it can hardly be overstated. They are either admitting they have been totally incompetent for months now, or they are lying today. Which hone makes you feel better?
I’ll let the numbers do the talking.
See Figure 1. That is the screen grab from yesterday, Jan 24th. Figure 2 is the screen grab from today, Jan 25th.
Figure 1: Alberta.ca Covid-19 Dashboard Jan 24th, 2022.
Figure 2: Alberta.ca Covid-19 Dashboard Jan 25th, 2022.
To understand the scope of this data manipulation consider the magnitudes of the changes that were made. Keep in mind these changes were made in 1 day!!
To make vaccinations look safer, they made the following changes:
Cases since Jan 1, 2021 after 14 days of 1st shot: -43%
Cases since Jan 1, 2021 after 14 days of 2nd shot: -41%
Cases since Jan 1, 2021 after 14 days of 3rd shot: -35%
To make unvaccinated look less safe, they made the following changes:
Cases since Jan 1, 2021 in unvaccinated or within 14 days of 1st shot: +133%
Hospitalizations since Jan 1, 2021 after 14 days of 1st shot: +119%
Deaths since Jan 1, 2021 after 14 days of 1st shot: +119%
Keep in mind that the above numbers are all conflated over the entire time period since Jan 1, 2021. This already makes the vaccinated numbers look better and the unvaccinated worse.
From the table the following changes were made to make unvaccinated look less safe:
Daily Unvaccinated Cases: 234%
Active Unvaccinated Cases: 240%
Current Hospitalizations: 232%
There you have it. Alberta has increased the numbers of unvaccinated cases, hospitalizations, and deaths by at least 119% IN ONE DAY, and they decreased the numbers of vaccinated cases by 35 - 43%, and with no explanation at all on their website.
I thought my article along with the recent revelations by Joel Smalley and others would rattle their cage, but I never thought they would stoop to this level of manipulation.
How can they possibly defend this? This must be brought to light, and those responsible must be forced to explain this to the Alberta public what they did today.
After this revelation, the best thing we can say about the Alberta.ca Covid-19 dashboard is that it is not to be trusted. Simply put, those in charge are either grossly incompetent, and have been for months on end, of they are lying today. That cannot be trusted anymore.
Albertans must demand a full public enquiry into this.
Amazing work my fellow Canadian!
I noticed the exact same thing myself when I check the numbers yesterday. I went onto the Wayback machine website to grab a before picture from Jan 20, then the latest numbers from Jan 24 to compare them.
Later on yesterday the numbers changed back to where you would expect them to be. They seem to be back in line today as well.
So maybe someone just hit the post button too soon before that last calculation was done? It really makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes though!
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who caught that.
